The four paths
Four ways to connect your phone to Kai.
Choose the setup that fits your business today. You can always change it later.
1. Get a new KaiCalls number
We give you a new local or toll-free number. Give this number to new callers or put it on your website. Your personal cell stays separate.
2. Forward your current number
Keep your phone carrier. Dial a short star code on your cell or office phone. When you miss a call, Kai answers for you.
3. Add a mobile work line (eSIM)
Add a second line to your phone. You get two numbers on one device. Kai covers missed calls on your work line. This is in pilot today.
4. Move (port) your number
Transfer your business line into KaiCalls. We take over the line from your old carrier. Your callers keep using the same number.
Side by side
What changes with each setup.
Your public number
Forwarding, moving, and mobile keep your number. A new number gives you a fresh line.
Your handset
Forwarding and new numbers need no new SIM. A mobile line needs an unlocked phone that supports eSIM.
How Kai answers
With forwarding, your phone rings first. Kai catches the miss. With a new number, calls can ring you or go straight to Kai.
Text messages
Forwarding does not forward carrier SMS. App texts and mobile line texts are managed separately.
Step by step
How to pick and start your setup.
- 1
Decide if you want to keep your number
If you love your current number, choose call forwarding or number porting. If you want a fresh line, pick a new number. - 2
Pick your setup speed
Call forwarding takes five minutes. Moving a number takes one to three weeks while carriers coordinate. - 3
Follow the setup guide
Open your chosen guide below and follow the simple steps. Enter your number and test the first call.
Good to know
Keep number types clear.
Moving your number is not the same as setting up an eSIM. An eSIM adds a line to your handset. Moving a number brings your phone record to KaiCalls. They are separate steps.
Test it
Check that your choice works.
- Place a test call from another phone to your business number.
- Let it ring. Make sure your phone rings first if you use forwarding.
- Let the call roll over and make sure Kai picks up with your greeting.
- Check your KaiCalls dashboard to see the call transcript and summary.
