KaiCalls DNILive: optional call-tracking add-on

Know which ad made your phone ring.

Dynamic Number Insertion (DNI) shows each website visitor a phone number tied to how they found you, such as an ad, search, or referral link. When they call, KaiCalls matches that number to the source, so you can review which campaigns produce matched calls.

Number swap

Visitors from a tracked source see a dedicated number instead of your main line.

Sticky session

They keep seeing that number for the rest of their visit, so the match stays accurate.

Call record

The source, page, and campaign show up right on the call record.

What DNI shows you on a real call.

Two examples of what shows up in your call record once DNI is running.

Example 01

The Saturday party rental rush

A parent is looking for a bounce house and wants to speak to a real person before booking.

03

Important:DNI needs enough tracking numbers for visitors who are on your site at the same time. When every tracking number is busy, KaiCalls reuses the number with the fewest active visitors and labels it “starved.” The call still routes, but its source match may be less reliable. Add more tracking numbers if you see this label. Your regular website number stays in place when DNI is unavailable. It is not the normal fallback for a busy pool.

Overview

Connect website visits to phone calls.

DNI connects matched calls to the available source, page, and campaign data from the website visit. Review which marketing sources produce calls alongside the conversation details.

  • A reusable number pool for the visitor sessions you choose to measure
  • Available source, landing-page, campaign, click, and search data on matched calls
  • One record you and your team both look at, instead of two separate reports

Features

What DNI actually does.

Before the call, DNI swaps in a tracking number. After the call, it matches that number back to the visit that created it.

On-site

Swap in a tracking number

A lightweight script on your site shows a pool number to visitors from a source you're tracking, in place of your main number.

Session

Keep the number sticky

That visitor keeps seeing the same tracking number for the rest of their visit, so the call they eventually make matches the right source.

Resolution

Match the call back to the source

When that number rings, KaiCalls looks up the matching visit and attaches a confidence level to the match.

Decision

See it next to the call

Available source, page, campaign, click, and search data sits on a successfully matched call record, with confidence instead of a silent guess.

Setup and requirements

What to connect and configure

Review the requirements, controls, and service details before using this with customer calls.

01

Website access and tracking numbers

DNI needs the optional call-tracking service, assigned pool numbers, and access to install the generated script on your website. Confirm availability and pricing for your account before adding the service. Pool size depends on concurrent visitors, and extra tracking numbers may cost separately.

Call-tracking service details
02

Static numbers or website DNI

For a yard sign, directory listing, or one ad channel, use a separate tagged number. Website DNI uses a pool and a site script to connect a visitor session to a call. A tagged number identifies a channel; it does not identify a website visit.

Choose a tracking method
03

Google Ads and analytics

Call attribution appears in KaiCalls. Sending a conversion to Google Ads or GA4 requires a separate connection and eligible visit data. Google Ads needs a usable Google click ID. Confirm the result in the destination account.

Connect reporting tools
04

Match confidence and fallback

A match depends on the available visit data, timing, and number reuse. Review confidence on matched calls. When the pool is busy, overlapping visits can make a match less reliable. When DNI is unavailable, the regular website number stays visible. Test the live number swap and an attributed call after setup.

Verify tracking and troubleshoot

How it works

Connect the website and verify a call

01

Create the pool and install the script

Open Dashboard → Call Tracking, add a group of tracking numbers, choose the regular number already shown on your site, and place the generated dni.js snippet in your site header. You need the call-tracking add-on, assigned numbers, and access to update your website.

02

Verify the live-site number swap

Visit the published site with recognizable campaign parameters and confirm the page swaps to a pool number. A saved pool or copied snippet alone is configuration, not live proof.

03

Confirm the first attributed call

Call the number shown on the site. Then confirm the matching visit, available source details, and confidence level on the call record. If you also send results to Google Ads or GA4, check that delivery separately.

Why KaiCalls

Review the source alongside the call.

DNI attaches available visit data to matched calls and shows the confidence of the match.

01

Match visits to calls

A tracking number connects a website visit to the call that follows it.

02

Review source and visit details

Your team sees the source and the visit, instead of an anonymous inbound call.

03

Check match confidence

Pool size, timing, and number reuse can all affect a match, so KaiCalls shows the confidence level instead of guessing silently.

Common questions

Questions about setup and use

Review the setup requirements and available controls. Contact us to discuss the details for your business.

What is Dynamic Number Insertion?

DNI shows website visitors a phone number tied to how they found you, such as an ad, search, or referral. When they call that number, KaiCalls matches it to the visit, so you know which source produced the call.

Will DNI change the experience for callers?

Callers dial a tracking number that routes to the destination you configure. The number they see on the page can change. Test the destination and caller experience after setup.

Can DNI tell me which Google searches bring in calls?

When the visit includes campaign, click, and search details and KaiCalls successfully matches the call, those details can appear on the call record. Sending a result to Google Ads also requires a usable Google click ID and a completed Google Ads connection.

Does DNI work with Voice Secretary and PBX?

Yes. DNI tracks where the call came from. Voice Secretary or PBX handles what happens once it rings, so the two work together, not separately.

What if no tracking number appears?

Confirm the call-tracking add-on is enabled, tracking numbers are assigned, the regular website number is correct, and the generated script is on the published page. If KaiCalls cannot choose a tracking number, the site keeps its regular number. Calls can still work, but they will not carry DNI source details.

What happens when the pool is busy?

KaiCalls reuses the tracking number with the fewest active visitors and labels it “starved.” Calls still route, but visits that overlap can make the source match less reliable. Add more tracking numbers when this label appears.
