Test That Forwarding Works
Dialing the code doesn't always prove it worked. Run this quick test right after you set it up.
Run the Test
- From a different phone — not your business line — call your business number.
- If you set up conditional forwarding (recommended), let it ring past your ring time without answering. If you set up all-calls forwarding, it should forward immediately.
- Kai should answer. If he does, forwarding is working.
If Voicemail Answers First
If your own voicemail picks up before Kai does, the call is being answered before it ever gets a chance to forward. Two common causes:
- •iPhone Live Voicemail — on T-Mobile or Mint Mobile, iOS's own Live Voicemail can answer before the carrier's forwarding rings out. Turn it off in Settings > Phone > Live Voicemail and try again.
- •Carrier voicemail rings faster than your forwarding delay — if your carrier lets you set the ring time (most GSM carriers do), lower it a few seconds so forwarding fires before voicemail picks up. If ring time isn't adjustable for your carrier, double-check the exact code you dialed against your carrier's guide — a slightly wrong code is the next most likely cause.
Have Kai Confirm It Himself
You don't have to rely only on a self-test. After you dial a forwarding code, Kai calls your business line to confirm it took effect. If a few minutes pass and you don't get that call, reopen the forwarding guide at Dashboard > Phone System > Numbers > How to Forward Calls, re-check the code shown for your carrier and mode against what you actually dialed, and try again.
