Optimum Voice
Optimum Voice can forward calls when your line is busy or you don't answer. Optimum doesn't list a dial code for it, so set it in your Optimum account or ask Optimum to turn it on.
Which Optimum line is this? This page is for an Optimum Voice home or business phone. It is not for an Optimum cell phone.
Have your Kai number handy. It's in Dashboard > Phone System.
Send Missed Calls to Kai
- Sign in to your Optimum account and open your phone features.
- Find Call Forwarding.
- Pick the choice for calls when the line is busy or not answered. Don't pick the one that forwards all calls.
- Enter your 10-digit Kai number and save.
- Call your number from a cell phone and let it ring to check that Kai answers.
Can't find it? Call Optimum and ask for “call forwarding busy or no answer” to your Kai number.
Don't dial *72. Optimum uses it to forward every call, and your own phone stops ringing.
Line outside the New York area? Optimum's guide for business phones there lists these codes. They may work on your line too. Dial the code, wait for the tone, then enter your Kai number:
- Calls you don't answer:
*92[your Kai number] - Calls while you're busy:
*90[your Kai number] - Change the ring count: dial
*94, then a number from 2 to 9
If you hear an error, use your Optimum account or call Optimum instead.
Turn Forwarding Off
If you set it in your Optimum account, switch it off there and save. If Optimum set it up, call them back. If you used the codes above, dial these:

How It Works
Optimum lists call forwarding for when the line is busy or not answered. Your phone rings first. If you don't pick up, Optimum sends the call to Kai.
Optimum's home phone page doesn't give a dial code for this. That is why the main steps use your account or a call to Optimum.

Common Questions
Is there an Optimum Voice code to forward only missed calls?
Optimum does not list one for its home phone. Optimum Voice can forward calls when the line is busy or not answered. Set it in your Optimum account, or call Optimum and ask for call forwarding busy or no answer to your Kai number.
Do the *92 and *90 codes work on Optimum?
They may. Optimum lists them for business phones outside the New York area. Dial *92, wait for the tone, then enter your Kai number. Dial *93 to turn it off. If you hear an error, use your account or call Optimum.
Should I use *72 on Optimum Voice?
No. Optimum uses *72 to forward every call, and your own phone stops ringing.
Do I lose my phone number if I forward it?
No. Forwarding does not move or cancel your number. Keep your phone plan active. Your number stays yours, and you can turn forwarding off any time.
