Consumer Cellular call forwarding
On Consumer Cellular, try **004*1[your Kai number]*11*15# with your Kai number. Your phone still rings first. Kai only gets the calls you don't pick up. Then test it.
Before you start: have your Kai number handy. It's in Dashboard > Phone System.
Consumer Cellular doesn't list its own forwarding codes. It runs on the AT&T and T-Mobile networks, so this page uses the codes those networks take.
Turn Forwarding On
- Use the Consumer Cellular phone you want to forward. Open the keypad.
- Dial the code below. Put a 1 in front of your Kai number.
- Tap Call. Wait for the message that says it worked.
- Call your number from another phone and let it ring to check that Kai answers.
Calls you can't answer (recommended)
One code covers calls you miss, calls while you're on the phone, and calls when your phone is off. Your phone rings for 15 seconds first.
**004*1[your Kai number]*11*15#
To change the ring time, swap the last number for 10, 15, 20, 25, 30. Keep it short so Kai answers before your voicemail does.
Don't use the code or the setting that forwards all calls. It sends every call to Kai, and your phone stops ringing.
Code rejected? Dial these one at a time instead. They are the codes T-Mobile lists for its network:
- Calls you don't answer:
**61*1[your Kai number]**15# - Calls while you're busy:
**67*1[your Kai number]# - Calls when your phone is off:
**62*1[your Kai number]#
Still no luck? Open your phone's Call forwarding setting. Pick the “when unanswered” choice, not “always.” Or call Consumer Cellular and ask for conditional call forwarding to your Kai number.
iPhone? Turn off Live Voicemail before you test. Go to Settings > Phone > Live Voicemail. If it's on, it answers first and the call never reaches Kai.
Turn Forwarding Off
Dial this from the same phone. It turns off every rule above:
##004#
Then call your number from another phone to check that only your phone rings.
How It Works
The forward happens in the network, not in an app. Your phone rings as usual. When you don't pick up, the call goes on to your Kai number.
Consumer Cellular's guide says your phone can forward calls when you're busy, don't answer, or are out of range. It doesn't give dial codes, so test the code after you dial it.

Common Questions
What is the Consumer Cellular code to forward only missed calls?
Try **004*1[your Kai number]*11*15#, with your Kai number and the 1 in front. Consumer Cellular doesn't list its own codes, but it runs on the AT&T and T-Mobile networks, which take this code. Dial ##004# to turn it off.
Consumer Cellular rejected the code. What now?
Dial these one at a time: **61*1[your Kai number]**15# for no answer, **67*1[your Kai number]# for busy, and **62*1[your Kai number]# for unreachable. Or open your phone's Call forwarding setting and pick when unanswered, not always.
Why does Live Voicemail on my iPhone stop forwarding?
Live Voicemail answers the call on your phone before the network can forward it. Turn it off in Settings, Phone, Live Voicemail.
Does call forwarding send my text messages to Kai too?
No. Call forwarding only moves voice calls. Texts keep going to your phone. To have Kai answer texts, you need texting turned on for your Kai number, which is a separate step.
Does my carrier charge for forwarded calls?
It depends on your plan. Most unlimited plans include forwarded calls, but some carriers count them as minutes you use. Check your plan if you are not sure.
Next, test that it worked. Still stuck? Reply to Kai's text and we'll set it up with you.
