The job
Kai answers a business's phone when nobody can pick up. It rings the owner's cell first, takes the call when they're busy, and sends them what the caller needs. Owners set it up in a few minutes and keep their own number.
Your job is to find owners who lose work to missed calls and get them signed up. You start with tent and party rental shops, whose phones ring hardest on the weekends their crews are out installing, and then move into other trades.
What you will do
- Call and visit local business owners from a starting list we give you, and build your own.
- Show them Kai on a live call, in ten minutes, between their jobs.
- Get them through signup and make sure their calls actually reach Kai before you move on.
- Tell us what owners say, so the product and the pitch get better.
How you get paid
This is a commission-only contractor role. There is no base salary.
- 30% of every payment each customer you sign makes, every month, for as long as they stay a customer.
- A bonus equal to one month's bill when a customer reaches 90 days of paid service.
- Commission becomes payable once a customer has paid for 60 days. It is paid monthly by direct deposit through Stripe.
- No cap. Your book keeps paying you after you sign it, so the second year pays more than the first.
The earnings range above is our estimate for a first year of signing 5 to 20 customers a month, before cancellations.
What we are looking for
- You have sold something to small-business owners: phone service, software, insurance, payroll, marketing, or anything else.
- You are comfortable calling people you don't know, and you follow up.
- You care whether the customer is still happy in month three, not just whether they signed.
Helpful, not mandatory
- You know the event rental, home service or trades world.
- You speak Spanish.
How we evaluate
You'll have a short call with the founder. Then you'll record a five-minute mock call pitching Kai to a tent rental owner who says they're too busy to talk. We'll give you the owner's situation and our opener beforehand.
Your first 30 days
- Week 1: Learn Kai by using it on your own phone, and learn the tent rental pitch.
- Weeks 2 to 4: Work the starting list and sign your first customers.
