KaiCalls

A2P 10DLC registration

Want to text your customers? Carriers need your business on file first.

Texts from a business number get blocked until your business is registered in its own name. That sign-up is called A2P 10DLC. The forms are fussy, and one wrong email can send them back. KaiCalls fills them in for you, checks them, and files them.

Do I need it?

Yes, if your business number texts customers. Not for texts you type yourself on your own cell.

How soon can I text?

Once carriers approve it. Review often takes 4 to 7 business days. Kai answers your calls while you wait.

See how we file it for you

Skip it, and your texts just stop

An unregistered business number can have its texts blocked or filtered. Your customer never sees them. You never hear that they failed.

The "Sorry I missed you" text never arrives, so the caller tries the next shop.

The booking confirmation never lands, so the customer is not sure they are booked.

A rejected form sits for days, and you only find out when you check.

How KaiCalls files it for you

Kai is your secretary. He answers your calls and texts your callers back. Getting your texts approved is part of the job, so we do the paperwork.

  1. Step 1

We start the form when you sign up

Your business name, website and contact details go into a draft for you. You fix anything that looks wrong.

  2. Step 2

We check it before anything is filed

Our check looks for the things carriers reject most. You see each problem as one plain sentence, with how to fix it.

  3. Step 3

We file it once your plan is paid

Carriers charge for every filing, so we file after your first paid bill, not during a trial.

  4. Step 4

You watch it step by step

Dashboard, then Compliance, then A2P Setup shows where it stands. If carriers send it back, you see why, fix it and resubmit.

The end result: your callers get a text back from your own number, and you get a text from Kai with who called and what they need.

What to have ready

Most owners finish the form in about five minutes. Have these close by.

  • Your legal business name

Spelled the way the IRS has it on your EIN letter.

  • Your EIN

Your federal tax ID. No EIN? See the next section.

  • A website that loads

Your own site, not a Facebook page or a link page. It should name your business.

  • An email at that website

Like you@yourshop.com. Gmail and Yahoo are turned down when you file with an EIN.

  • A street address

Where the business is. A P.O. box is not accepted.

  • What you will text about

Replies and booking texts, or sales texts too. Pick it in one tap.

No EIN? You can still register.

Lots of barbers, cleaners and solo trades work under their own name. Tick "I don't have an EIN" on the form. We file you as a sole proprietor.

  • You register in your own name. A personal email is fine.
  • Carriers text your cell once to confirm it is you. You answer that text.
  • You get one campaign, one number and a low daily text limit.
  • That cell has to be your own mobile, not a KaiCalls line.

Your phone line never needs an EIN. Only texting your callers does.

Service texts and sales texts follow different rules

A text that answers a customer is a service text. A text that sells is a sales text. Sales texts need more.

The textKind
A reply to a customer who texted youYour approved registrationService
"Sorry I missed your call. How can I help?"Your approved registrationService
A booking confirmation or reminderYour approved registrationService
"We have an opening Friday. Want it?"A registration that covers sales texts, plus the customer’s opt-in to sales textsSales
A discount or seasonal offerA registration that covers sales texts, plus the customer’s opt-in to sales textsSales
"It has been a while. Time to book again?"A registration that covers sales texts, plus the customer’s opt-in to sales textsSales

Kai checks every text before it goes out. He holds back sales language, link shorteners and all-caps.

STOP always works. So do START and HELP. Kai never texts a number that said STOP.

Quiet hours: Kai holds texts from 9 PM to 8 AM in the customer’s time zone.

Why registrations get rejected, and how our check catches it

Most rejections come from a few small mistakes. Each one can cost you days. Our check looks for them before you pay any carrier fee.

A Gmail, Yahoo or other free email on a business with an EIN

We flag it while you type and ask for an email at your own website.

An email that does not match your website

We check that the email and the website share the same name.

A typo in the email, like gmial.com

We catch common typos and show the fix.

An email domain that cannot get mail

Before filing, we check the domain can receive email.

A website that is down, or is only a social page

We check that the site loads and is your own site, not a profile or a link page.

A P.O. box as the address

We ask for the street address instead.

We built the email check after a real filing came back for using a Gmail address. If a carrier still sends yours back, you see the reason in your dashboard. Fix it and resubmit. The resubmit updates the same filing, with no second filing fee.

10DLC by industry

The rules are the same for everyone. What changes is the texts you send.

10DLC for hair salons and barbers

Most shop texts are service texts: "You are booked for 2 PM," or a reply to "Do you have room today?" A text about a last-minute opening is a sales text, so it needs a registration that covers sales and the client’s opt-in. Many booth renters have no EIN and can file in their own name.

10DLC for home services and contractors

Plumbers, roofers and HVAC crews text to confirm a visit, send an "on my way," or answer a missed call. Those are service texts. Seasonal tune-up offers are sales texts. If you work under your own name, the sole proprietor path fits.

10DLC for law firms

Firms text to confirm a consult time or ask a caller to call back. Those are service texts. File under the firm’s legal name and EIN, with an email at the firm’s website. Keep case details out of texts.

10DLC for dental and medical offices

Appointment confirmations and reminders are service texts. A cleaning special is a sales text. Keep health details out of texts, and say "Reply STOP to opt out" in your sample messages.

10DLC for party, equipment and vacation rentals

Rentals text booking confirmations, delivery windows and pickup times. Those are service texts. A holiday promo to past renters is a sales text and needs their opt-in first.

Common questions about 10DLC

Do I need 10DLC registration?

Yes, if your business texts customers from a regular 10-digit business number through an app or service. Carriers want each business that texts its callers registered in its own name. Texts you type yourself on your own cell, person to person, do not need it.

How long does 10DLC approval take?

It varies, and the carriers decide, not us. Brand review often takes 1 to 2 business days. Campaign review often takes 3 to 5 more. We cannot promise a date.

Can Kai answer calls while I wait?

Yes. Calls, voicemail and the texts Kai sends you about your own calls all work while you wait. Texts to your callers start once your registration is approved.

Can I register without an EIN?

Yes. Tick "I don’t have an EIN" and we file you as a sole proprietor in your own name. A personal email is fine. Carriers text your cell once to confirm it is you, and you answer that text. You get one campaign, one number and a low daily text limit. That cell cannot be a KaiCalls line.

What does 10DLC registration cost with KaiCalls?

It depends on your plan. Some plans include it once the plan is paid (not during a trial). Others add it as a paid add-on. The plan list on this page and the pricing page show which is which.

What if carriers reject my registration?

You see the reason in your dashboard. Fix that one thing and resubmit. A resubmit updates the same filing, so there is no second filing fee.

Can I send sales texts and promos?

Only with a registration that covers sales texts and an opt-in from each customer for sales texts. Service texts, like replies and booking confirmations, do not need the sales opt-in.

What about toll-free numbers?

Toll-free numbers use a different process. KaiCalls does not run that one today.
